Happy Birthday Emmy!

This is a little late, but better late than never, right?

We celebrated my birthday on Friday with some yummy Kamakura and cake. I have waited for six weeks for cake. I couldn't even finish my piece of cake, and it was so heartbreaking.

Saturday, we celebrated my favorite birthday present ever, Emmy!! She turned 7, and her and I made a day of it. We got up, went shopping, got her hair trimmed professionally, and got our nails done. Then we went to the park and had some awesome ladybug cupcakes (well, I didn't.....I was a good girl!) then played with one of her (and possibly my favorite!) presents for the rest of the evening. Got lots of pics, so I will let them speak for themselves!

She said "A boy did my nails....AWKWARD!!!" :)

Emminism of the day

My husband told me this one before we went to bed last night. I laughed about it then woke up in the middle of the night thinking and laughing about it again.

***Em is agrily attempting to put her bike away in the garage on the other side of Russ's truck.

Emmy: GRRRRR!! DAD!! I can't put my bike away, your COSTUME is in the way!
Russ: What? My costume?
Emmy: Yeah Dad, your costume is in my way and I can't put my bike away!
Russ: Uh...that's not a costume Emmy. That's daddy's uniform.

(It was his bunker pants and boots:)

Costume??!! Wow!!

Songstress

I came into the girls room one night to pray with them. They have these cute little flower nightlights from Ikea right above their beds that give off this soft glow in their room. Under her nightlight, Em was sitting on her bed with her little leg propping her guitar up, and just strumming away and singing some song she had made up about Hunter and Jake (our old dog and mom's old dog who both had to be put to sleep recently) to make Faith feel better who was feeling sad about them at the time. I almost cried and then kicked myself for not having a camera to take a picture becuase I seriously thought I saw a glimpse into the future of her for a second. I saw her sitting in her dorm room with her guitar, singing some song she had written on her little dorm couch. It was the cutest thing ever.

She always makes up songs, ALL THE TIME! Everything she says, she sing-songs it. It's hilarious. So today I was feeling nostalgic and in a Bon Jovi-esque type mood. I was singing "Shot through the heart, and your to blame".....you know the rest. We are at Mom's house for lunch, and she is singing the song to herself only she heard the words a little differently. Her version was "Shot through the heart, but your too lame"......I seriously like her version better.

Emminim of the week.

My kids haven't really been that funny lately....in all seriousness, they've been moody and irritable. Women.

Anyway, tonight, they hit the goof-ball saying jackpot...so here goes!

Faith: Uh-Oh....We can't listen to that song.
Mommy: Why not?
Faith: It's a Jonas Brother song, and I think it has cussing in it.
Mommy: I'm pretty sure the Jonas Brother's don't have a song with cussing in it.
Emmy: Yeah, Nick wouldn't cuss 'cause he has diabetes.

Emmy: Mommy, I can't look at Faith's drink.
Mommy: Why? What's wrong with her drink.
Emmy: It's making me disgusted.
Mommy: Again...why?
Emmy: Because it has strawberries in it and they make me disgusted.

***Driving to Target, and Emmy is fighting with Maebree over the seat belt and the fact that Mae does not want a seat belt on. She cops a major 'tude with me when I ask her to help Maebree at least get it on.

Mommy: Faith, you will have to ride in the back with Maebree becuase evidently....Emmy......well, she just "cant handle the truth" (said in a joking, Jack Nicholson type-way, more so for Didi who was with me).

***Complete silence for about 10 seconds.

Emmy: I CAN handle the truth!! The TRUTH is that I CAN'T put the seat belt on MAEBREE!

I mean, where does she come UP with this stuff? I have never heard of a more "literal" kid in my life!

Our Little Princess

Emmy had her Little Princess competition (for lack of better word) on Friday night. We got her all dolled up and ready to go!!

Mae wanted us to know that she was a princess too....which she is. If princess liked to play with cars and "rars" (dinasours) and beat up their big sisters which they obviously do.

We waited...and waited for the results.....
......AND....although she didn't get the crown from this competition.....

.....she was still crowned the Little Princess of our family......
which is totally ok because if you even attempted to call Faith a princess, she would probably vomit, and Mae just takes her rightful place anywhere she goes:)

The princess with various members of the "royal family"

And my absolute favorite pics of the night....

Emmy and Abbey...that would be "Caebin's" big sister. Emmy is 6, Abbey is 3, although, she will be 4 in November:) How cute are they! Julia, feel free to copy away:)

Everyone keeps asking me if Emmy was disappointed that she didn't win. We just didn't make it a big deal for her to win. In all honesty, I was WAY more disappointed than she even thought to be because...come one...look at those eyes and those massive dimples. And she is a total rock star:) In her words "it's totally ok to not win 'cause grandma's just going to buy me a crown anyway" which she did. She got to ride in the parade with all the other "contestants", and nobody rode in a "convertival" anyway! So in the end, it was all good!

Up next...the big race!!!

Ism's of the day

Emmy skinned her knees yesterday and has some pretty awesome battle scars from doing so. She informed me tonight that "Mom...I just miss my plain 'ol knees".

We also took Russ into Convenient Care due to him having what we could all only assume was a 2x4 stuck in his eye (in reality, it was something much smaller, but you would never know by the looks of his eye!). When he came out, Maebree ran up to him and said "Daddy, zat docter fitz you up!"

Some days I just want to squeeze my kids til stuff comes out!

Vote For Emmy!

Ok all you St. Joseph (and surrounding area peeps), look for this picture and dump your change (or bills, bills work too=) in Emmy's cup at the IGA or the bank. She is up for fair princess, and lets face it, she's totally the cutest kid up there. I know, I know, I'm biased, but whatever. I have no shame is promoting my kid:) Plus.....she totally wants to ride on top of a "convertival" and wear a crown. Are you really going to deny a 6-year-old her dream?

Emmy's 6th Birthday

Whoa.....this week has been ridiculous with business, but I must get Emmy's b-day underway!

Due to Mae-Mae being sick on the Saturday we were planning her party to be on, we decided to go with Sunday afternoon at the park. We were only having family over Saturday, but since we moved everything to the good 'ol outdoors, I decided to quick call some of her church friends and invite them to come out and celebrate with us!

Sunday, after a quick venue change, we had a lovely party complete with cookie cake (per her request) a Tinkerbell theme, and some good old fashion pinata fun. There was also a rousing game of pin-the-tail on the donkey.

Yummy cookie-cake and good buddies..

Pinata fun.....

Emmy and all her buddies...

I cannot even believe that my "Gracey-Lou" is 6 already. She is growing up way to fast for us. We took her out for a "date and shopping spree" with just Russ and I, and she cracked us up the entire time. It is daily that she says things that make me laugh out loud. We played some miniature golf with her and had an absolute blast! (Me being the amazing photographer that I am forgot to bring the camera.....again....) She, of course, cheats horribley, but she was fun. She kept telling us "Ok, I'm gonna move on to the next course........course.....I just LOVE saying COURSE!" She also praised me for getting a "hole in twice" (as apposed to a hole-in-0ne:).

We love ya "shoogs!"

My rockstar 6-year-old

In an effort to get Emmy's pics done before the firestorm of the next couple weeks (my b-day, her b-day, NUMEROUS photo shoots, school getting out, etc!), I quick did up her hair and put her in a cute outfit and headed out to the front yard for some pics. I really wanted to incorporate her guitar that my mom and dad bought her last year for her birthday, and I think we got some pretty cute stuff!! Tell me what you think!

I know that everyone thinks that their kid is the the cutest, but I am not kidding. I seriously think I should be capitalizing off this kids photogenicness. She is such a natural in front of a camera and posed herself in EVERY one. I helped only with telling her to smile, not smile, and if she needed help figuring out how to hold the guitar. She is amazing!

If you want to see the rest of her pics, you can view them here

Gracey-Lou Freebush

Our little Emmy Grace is going to be 6 this week. I found this pictures and thought I should share, she looks just so stinkin' cute!

She looks like she's gettin' ready to "throw down some beats".

I aksed her what she wants for her birthday, and she informed me that she wants a "Touch N Brush", some stupid toothpaste dispenser that hooks onto the wall. "But MOM! You get a toothbrush with it where you don't even need toothpaste!"

6-year-olds!

Dancing Queen

Again, this has been just one of those weeks. Two of my three kids have come down with ear infections, and Maebree has been up for the past two straight nights...and by up all night...I mean up all night! I had a conference at church this weekend, so my mom graciously offered to keep the kids overnight (Russ has had to work both days) so I didn't have to pick them up late just to bring them back early the next morning. She wasn't banking on having to stay up all night with a croupy, coughing baby though. The conference was great...though I didn't really get to fully enjoy it because I was worried about my girl most of the time and had to leave early both days. Oh well.......

Before she came down with whatever the heck she has.....this is what Mae-Mae decided to do about 20 minutes before heading to church Wednesday night

That would be my very expensive Mary Kay face lotion that I am convinced was hand-made by God because it truly is a miracle cream. She used half of it on her head. All I could do was laugh:)

On Tuesday night, Emmy's dance class invited family to attend and watch a practice, something that we are not allowed to normally do. I figured out why while we were there. Some kids just do better when their parents are not watching, and that was evident with a couple of the girls. It was nice to see what our money was going to monthly. Unfortunately, she was starting to feel kind of junky that night, but I think she managed to pull it off quite nicely.

Their warm-up stretches.

Getting ready for their big "routine"....yes....those are the "numbers" on her butt:)

Practicing staying on her tippy-toes.

More of their routine
The big finish

You point that toe girl!! She is SO flash-dance in those leg warmers!
I love my little dancer! I always wanted to take some sort of dance, so I'm happy to live vicariously through her:) She doesn't really enjoy it all that much right now because she doesn't get to "do the dances she wants to" which is really just spinning in circles in a cute tu-tu.....but she will really enjoy it once she gets the basics down. She has her first big show in June, and we can't wait to see the fruits of her labor!
